Kennebec Land Trust

The Kennebec Land Trust (KLT) works cooperatively with landowners and communities to conserve the forests, lakes, streams, wetlands, fields, and wildlife that help define central Maine. KLT protects and stewards land permanently, offers access to conserved properties, provides opportunities for people to learn about and enjoy the natural world, and works with partners to support sustainable forestry and farming.

Established by citizens in 1988, KLT has partnered with landowners in 21 communities to conserve our landscape through land donations, fee purchases, and conservation easements. In addition to ongoing monitoring and land management, we have constructed many miles of trails on KLT land. We have developed informative brochures and maps of our properties, and interpretive signs, that encourage visitors to learn about and enjoy our region.

We offer public education programs and field trips for schools and other interested organizations, on relevant natural history, land stewardship, and conservation themes.

KLT is also a founding partner, along with the Maine Forest Service, of the Kennebec Woodland Partnership and Local Wood WORKS which promotes private and public woodland stewardship.

Snowmobile Association

Meetings are held at the Fayette Fire Station on the second Saturday of the month at 8:30AM from September through April. All are welcome….hope to see you there!

  • ITS Maps are typically available at the Town Office!

Welcome to the Fayette Ridge Riders Snowmobile Association!

  • The Fayette Ridge Riders Snowmobile Association (formerly the Rainbow Riders) was established in 1974. Its members have been working since then to maintain 24 miles of trails, including the ITS 115 trail as well as local snowmobile trails within the town of Fayette, Maine. This includes acquiring landowner permission, clearing trails in the fall, maintaining bridges, posting signs, as well as grooming the trails once snow season arrives. None of this could be accomplished without the help of dedicated volunteers!
  • In addition to trail maintenance, the Fayette Ridge Riders work to raise additional funds in order to be able to help others. The Ridge Riders donated a rescue sleigh to the Fayette Fire Department, and also make annual donations to the Fayette Fire Department and the Pine Tree Camp, a summer camp experience for children and adults with disabilities. Once again, volunteers are the key!
  • The Fayette Ridge Riders are dependent on the involvement of its members. New faces and new ideas are always welcome. Members don’t even have to be snowmobilers!
  • There are 24 miles of snowmobile trails in Fayette. Many landowners graciously give permission to the Fayette Ridge Riders for trails to pass through their property. These trails need to be maintained in the fall (clearing fallen trees, maintaining bridges, posting signs, etc.) During snow season, the trails need to be groomed. Trail maintenance is done by VOLUNTEERS who are members of the Fayette Ridge Riders.
  • Keeping our trails open and clear, both before and during the season, is a huge task. If you can help, please contact any officer or member.

  • Membership with the Fayette Ridge Riders is ONLY $20 per year for an individual OR for a family.
