Underwood Memorial Library

liz butte library

Underwood Memorial Library was started in 1953 with a trust fund from Jane Underwood. The library was originally housed in a portion of Starling Grange Hall under librarian Nettie Mitchell, but was moved to the Fayette Mills Schoolhouse, where it currently resides.

The schoolhouse was originally located on the old North Wayne Road before it was moved to Rt. 17. The building has retained much of its original charm. The library has had many updates since 2019 funded by a grant. Stop by and see our beautiful library!

  • In addition to book, DVD, and puzzle borrowing, we offer three computers for public use, 24 hour Wifi access, and minimal printing and copying services.
  • If you can’t find the book you are looking for, we may be able to help you with our Inter Library Loan service.
  • We also have a reading room if you are looking for a quiet place to relax and read.
