The document below is the entire History of Fayette, a book written by Joseph H. Underwood and edited by Russell C. Tuck. The book contains not only a written record of how our lovely town began, but also:

  • Genealogical records of Fayette from 1795 to 1858
  • Military lists from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, the Civil War, World War I, and World War II
  • Civil lists including town meeting moderators, selectmen, treasurers and tax collectors from 1795 to 1955; Massachusetts General Court members from 1795-1819; and state legislature members from 1820-1924
  • And a list of early settlers and the first United States census.

Fayette is a town in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,160 as of the 2020 census. A popular recreation spot in central Maine, Fayette is part of the Winthrop Lakes Region.
